So I had the pleasure of attending another makeup mixer event hosted by the Chicago Beauty Exchange. It was such a funny coincidence because the topic was hairstyling for makeup artists! Ring a bell? I've been able to saturate myself in this topic this month and it has been great!
This event was called the Enzo Milano Styling Tools Seminar. Sound familiar? It may not because Enzo Milano is a pro brand that is not sold in regular stores. You see, we have "consumer" brands for personal use and then we have "professional" brands for use by professionals, and those brands may not be well known by the general public.
It was also a funny coincidence for me because I actually purchased an Enzo Milano Styling tool over a year ago. I had no clue what to do with it, so I let it sit in the bottom of my hair kit. Let me tell you, this seminar was right on time because I had no clue that I had a gem in the bottom of my bag!
The demonstration class was taught by Sara Jean Stevens who is a licensed cosmetologist and brand rep for Enzo Milano. She has a funny and energetic personality, so she kept us laughing through the whole class. I was able to learn a lot more about this mysterious curling wand that has been at the bottom of my hair kit for a very long time.
I learned that Enzo Milano is the company that created clipless curling wands. Ever heard of them? Well they are all over the place now but Enzo Milano is the original designer of them. It is one of top hair styling tool brands that are used on celebrities. The tool allows stylists to quickly create different kinds of curls in the hair that really last for a long time! Sara was able to show us some of the basic Enzo techniques so that we can create ribbon curls, ringlet curls and the iconic "enzo wave" pattern in the hair.
She helped the artists in attendance get the technique down by helping us use it in the model's hair. One of the main reasons that I've been so hesitant to use this wand is because of how the wand has to lay on the hair while it is creating the curl. But Sara helped me learn more about the type of heat that the Enzo Milano tools use and now I know how to use it effectively. Yay :)
Jenn Jackson, the stylist who taught my recent two-day hair class, was also in attendance so she was able to play around with the different wands and help the makeup artists in attendance learn how to use them effectively. And for attending the class, each artist present will be receiving a free Enzo curling wand. Woo hoo!
So I went home and dug out this tool that I'm so used to seeing...and avoiding! And I got one of my practice heads out and quickly popped some curls in. Love love love :) It is so nice to know how to use something after being confused about it for so long.
