Hey everyone! I wanted to make sure to keep you clued in on some of the makeup products that I use on a very regular basis!
No one can apply makeup without brushes. Well, you can, but it might not look the greatest lol. Anywho, when it comes to brushes for my everyday bag, there is only one brand that I carry.
That is E.L.F. cosmetics makeup brushes! Have you heard of them before? This brand is sold mostly in Target. And their price point starts at only one dollar!
Now trust me, I used to turn up my nose at this brand every time I walked by. But one day curiosity got the best of me. I purchased a bronzer and I never looked back!
That was several years ago. Over the years, I've tried many products from the brand and definitely developed my go to faves. So...back to the brushes! Now, remember that I said the price point starts at one dollar? Now they sell makeup brushes for one dollar but trust me, they are about what you would expect for a makeup brush that cost one dollar. With exception of the one dollar concealer brush (which I use as a lip brush), I'd skip over them and go to the three dollar brushes.
What difference does two dollars make? Well, that is a great question to ask! Trust me, it makes all the difference in the world. The brushes are made of synthetic fibers. In terms of quality, they definitely stand up to more expensive brands.
To be completely honest with you, they are better than a few of the brushes that I've purchased from a brand with a cult following that rhymes with hack or rack. You get the idea lol. As a makeup artist, there is nothing more frustrating than spending $40 bucks on a brush just to have the brush hair come out every time you use the brush! I've only had nasty shedding problems from the hack/rack brand. I've never had those problems with the E.L.F. three dollar brushes.
So I have many of the E.L.F. brushes in my personal stash. But on a daily basis I always carry the powder brush, blush brush and contour brush.
Powder brush - This is a large brush with a flat surface. It actually works best as a powder brush. I use this brush to apply my pressed powder on a daily basis. I also use it to apply bronzer. It is awesome for that.
Blush brush - This is a medium-sized dome-shaped brush. You know how some blush brushes can be too large and put down too much product? You won't have that problem with this brush. Dip the tip in your blush and blend it into the apple of your cheeks. Viola! It puts down just enough product and it will look great.
Contour brush - This brush is a great eyeshadow brush. And it is multi-functional. I use it to densely pack the eyeshadow onto my lid. I also use it as they intended. It is really great to use as a contour brush for the eye. The brush does a wonderful job of blending the eyeshadow as it applies it. I just purchased this brush only a few weeks ago but I love it already.
If you like the sound of these brushes, then please go pick a few up! Please let me know how they work out for you :)
