Hey everyone! I wanted to tell you about one of my new product finds that I've been testing out. I picked up this blush on a while ago while shopping at Ulta and I just wanted to check it out.
It's called NYX Baked blush. What's so cool about this blush is that it is a combination of a blush, illuminator and bronzer. So basically, it is one of those new school blushes that gives you a nice glow instead of plopping one solid color on your cheeks.
I've been trying it out for a while, um, maybe several weeks now. You know what? I really like it! It definitely isn't pro quality. And by that, I mean it isn't extremely pigmented. But for normal day to day wear that is a good thing. The soft blush can match the overall soft makeup look that most women normally wear during the work week.
What makes this blush tricky to use is that the product is rock solid. I actually have to take my blush brush and literally scratch the product off. Once I do that, I place the product on the apple of my cheek and I work up my cheek bone in small circles to make sure the product is blended.
Because the product isn't that pigmented, it's hard to overdo it. This is great for those of you who are new to wearing blushes and are afraid of looking like a clown. The clown look would be very, very hard to pull off with NYX baked blush.
It is a very subtle blush. In some lighting, I feel like I can barely see it. But in other lighting, I see the warm nice glow on my cheeks and it makes me happy. If you apply it with a damp blush it will appear more pigmented. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend that on top of foundation, only try the wet brush trick on bare skin.
The name of the blush that I used above is Ignite. It is supposed to be a muted orange. But these are the types of blushes that look different on different skin tones. It reads pink/peach (depending on the lighting) on me. Either way, it's one of those universal soft, warm blush colors that will work for a variety of skin tones.
The only thing I don't like about this blush is the packaging. It's almost shaped like a little thick box. So it takes up more room in my makeup bag than I care for. I suppose they left it extremely bulky so that the baked blush doesn't break. If that is the reason then I get it. But it is still a bit annoying.
So if you are in the market for a new blush, I suggest you check out this blush. No worries if you don't like this color. There are 12 colors in this collection so you are sure to find something that works for you. It will set you back about seven bucks. But it's definitely a good deal.
